NARCISSISTS CHIRPING

1.

I love me.
I love me too.

I really love me.
I really love me too.

I really really love me.
I really really love me too.

I love me truly...

I love me well....

I love me wholly...

I love me broken...

I love me spent...

I love me fractured...

I love me most...

2.

I wish to be
on intimate terms
with distance
and want only
the beginnings
of love affairs.

3.

I have only walked
with those who've walked across
ponds where the ice is thin
and have flirted with blackness
more than once. And who caress
their genitalia absentmindedly
and often.

HOW TO SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FUCKIN HEAD

First:
Get a set of parents
who are out of their fucking minds.
Next:
Digest them
whole, absorb
their judgements:
you're shit,
the world is shit,
everything's shit.
Next:
Believe that.
Then:
Go out into the world.

Lock & Load.

NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION:

I love you.

In my own way.

Askance.
Awry.
From a distance.

Just the way
you've always
wanted.

I love how you hate
yourself
and anyone else
who would dare
love you; anyone
who would challenge
your ugly & unworthy
appraisal; I love
how hard you've worked
to remain
obdurate
& singular
resisting love's entreaties
of spirit; I love
your sabotage
& surrender
only for a second;
I love
how you take
no prisoners
having room
for only
yourself
chained
to misbelief
& false premises;
and I love
how powerless
you really are
to my own
powerlessness
in pouring
love's elixers
down your
throat.

Drink up...

And I'll bring
the handcuffs.

PAIN HAS NEVER FELT THIS GOOD

I've been trying
for years now
to get away
from her
gravitational field;
I do not have
the propulsion
necessary
or, perhaps,
I lack
the will?
No matter
why; it is
what it is.
Everything I do
or don't do
I do
or don't do
with her
in mind.
It's madness
most beatific
in a wood dark
and winding.

There has been
explorations
of different planets,
different bodies,
different climates,
different names.
I've been indifferent
to their danger if,
indeed, they presented
danger at all.
Somewhere in my core
I must have known
that her madness
would arouse and inspire
my own and give rise
to a poetry of fevers.

It is the mirror
of adolescence
that I stare into.
A demon stares back:
young, heedless,
reckless (but alive!)
Pain has never felt
this good.
